“Photography, for me, is the discovery of the unexpected — finding the jewel in the everyday.”

As a photojournalist and commercial photographer, Peter Fisher has brought the same passion and discipline to a family portrait as he has to assignments for Time, Newsweek, Coca-Cola, HSBC, Qantas, and Penfolds. That standard hasn't changed in 45 years.

It was the birth of his son Maxwell in 1999 that drew him toward fine art portraiture — the recognition that those fleeting, unrepeatable moments of family life deserved the same serious attention he gave to any major assignment.

Peter holds the AIPP Master of Photography credential — awarded twice — and was named Australian Portrait Photographer of the Year. His portrait of Gay Bilson is held in the permanent collection of the Australian National Portrait Gallery. His work is represented worldwide by Getty Images.

He lives in Adelaide with his wife, the artist Pelle Fisher.
